We are excited to announce that WalkerHughes Insurance is proudly partnering with My Closet as our agency's ‘Charity of the Quarter’ in Quarter 1 of 2024.
About our Referral Program
At WalkerHughes Insurance, there is no higher compliment than a referral. A referral indicates that we have met the mark for our customers and that they are satisfied with the service provided. We are pleased when our customers trust us enough to recommend us to those closest to them. We know how important friends and family members are, and we promise to treat yours as if they were our own!
For every customer referring friends and family members that complete a no-obligation insurance review, we will send you a $5 coffee e-gift card as a token of our appreciation! As part of our referral program, we will also make a matching $5 donation to our agency’s ‘Charity of the Quarter’. The purpose of this program is to help organizations close to the hearts of our employees while providing our customers the opportunity to not only receive a coffee on us, but to also help a worthy cause by referring their friends and family. In addition, this also gives us the opportunity to promote awareness of these organizations in our communities through our online presence.
Why My Closet?
My Closet was nominated by WalkerHughes team member, Natasha Everling, as our agency’s Charity of the Quarter. Natasha is a Community Business Advisor out of our Tipton office and very passionate about supporting her local community.
About My Closet
In 2015, Gena Schultz was watching back-to-school ads on her TV that portrayed kids wearing name brand clothing, representing popularity and success. This did not sit well with her as she thought of all the kids that didn't have access to new clothes, let alone name brand clothes. Gena wanted to do something about this, so after spending time in prayer and speaking with other members of the Tipton community, her vision of opening a new clothing pantry became a reality.
My Closet serves students in the Tipton Community School Corporation, ranging from PreK to 12th grade. All the clothing is new and name brand with the tags still attached. There are no financial guidelines for shopping at My Closet; if a parent sees a need, their child qualifies. At My Closet, everything is handled confidentially, with only one family being served at a time to create a stress-free environment.
Students who visit My Closet receive a new outfit each semester, a haircut certificate, a hygiene bag, and a voucher for new shoes free of charge. There are also coats, hats, and gloves available in the winter. Since opening their doors, there have been over 1,125 shopping trips and more than 273 shoe vouchers distributed to students.
Their mission is to increase the self-esteem of the students so they can become more productive citizens. They believe that all children deserve to have a new outfit.
